Last updated 31 October 2026. This covers this website and the Melbourne beta waitlist. The Parasocial app will have its own policy before it launches.

Who we are

Parasocial is based in Melbourne, Australia. You can reach us at hello@joinparasocial.com.

What we collect

When you join the waitlist we keep your email address, whether you ticked “I run a group or club”, that you confirmed you’re 18 or older, and when you signed up. That’s all.

What we don’t do

This site uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising or tracking pixels. The fonts and photos are served from our own site, so loading a page doesn’t send your details to anyone else. We never sell or share your email.

Why we collect it

To email you about the Melbourne beta: when it opens and how to join. If you told us you run a group, we may also email you about hosting on Parasocial. We won’t use your email for anything else.

Where it’s stored

In a database run by Cloudflare, which also hosts this website and processes the information on our behalf. Cloudflare is a US company with data centres around the world, so your information may be stored or processed outside Australia.

Stopping automated sign-ups

To block bots, we keep a scrambled code made from your IP address and delete it within 24 hours. It’s made with a secret key and the date, so nobody without the key can work out your IP address from it, and it can’t be linked to your visits on other days. We don’t store your IP address itself. Cloudflare also processes IP addresses to deliver this site and protect it from attacks.

How long we keep it

Until you ask us to delete it, or until we no longer need it to tell you about Parasocial. If Parasocial doesn’t go ahead, we’ll delete the list.

Emails and unsubscribing

Every email we send says who it’s from and has a link to unsubscribe. Unsubscribing removes you from the list.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@joinparasocial.com. We’ll reply within 30 days.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Age

The beta is for people aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
